The Hamas police force has been accused of forcing men in Gaza to cut their hair. The accusation, coming from the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, came about after several young men were jailed for wearing their hair too long or too styled. The men were also prohibited from wearing any ill-filling or low-slung jeans that are currently fashionable in the region upon their release from jail. Although witnesses were present at the scene of the arrest, the Hamas ministry denies such claims by the human rights group. This arrests represents the varying degrees of conservatism in the interpretation of Islam.
