Robert Zurbano, former writer for Havana Times in Cuba, wrote a piece for the New York Times entitled "For Blacks in Cuba, the Revolution Hasn’t Begun," an exposition of the history of discrimination against Afro-Cubans. Zurbano blames NYT for changing the name of the article and misrepresenting his opinion, but NYT stands by its printing and said Zurbano signed off on the final copy. Cuban revolutionaries claim that much has been done to level the playing field among races and ethnicities in Cuba, but Zurbano's article suggests that these claims are exaggerated. Economic advances in the country have not been shared equally by all, and this particular topic is incredibly taboo to discuss.
