Spain: Madrileños protest the monarchy

Today thousands of Spaniards were in the streets of Madrid protesting the Spanish Monarchy and they demanded the return of a democratically elected head of state. Today marks the 82nd anniversary of the established democratically-elected republic of Spain, which was overthrown by the Army and later replaced with General Franciso Franco who later chose Prince Juan Carlos to be his successor. He took over as King after the Dictators death in 1975. The king was admired for decades for his transition from dictatorship to democracy. The people of Spain want to keep their country democratic and by doing so, they are taking their pride and frustrations out to the streets.
