Uighur Men Jailed in China

Twenty men have been jailed in China for attempting to murder local police officers. Suspected to be part of the Muslim Uighur group, each of the men were sentenced to terms ranging from twenty years to life in prison. The Muslim Uighur group has often been as odds with the ever growing Han Chinese group. Some claim that the assassination attempts were a response to the persecution of the men for promoting ethnic separatism by listening to foreign radio broadcasts and transmitting video footage. The pleas of the twenty men are unknown, but it is unlikely that any will be found not guilty of the alleged crimes.
