The situation in Egypt continues to mount casualties as an explosion killed at least three tourists on board a tourist bus in Sinai. The bus had about 30 South Korean passengers, and officials believe that there was an explosive device placed on the bus by a militant group. This is the first attack upon civilians that has happened in the last three years, but it may be an indication that the militant groups in Egypt are willing to expand who they deem to be their targets. No group has come out to claim responsibility for the attack, but much of the bombings and assassinations that have taken place in Sinai have been done by the group Ansar Beit al-Maqdis. Although the attack was relatively small in comparison to others that have occurred as of late, it stands as a chilling statement that civilians and tourists in the area may not be as safe as they thought they were.
