The riots in Ukraine have caused both Russia and the U.S. to intervene in the situation. However, a phone call between the Assistant Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland, and US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt was leaked. In this call opinions of the opposition leaders and who should be supported was discussed and Nuland had some not so nice things to say about the EU. Ultimately her goal was to get the UN involved in the situation in attempt to keep things together. Russia is very critical of this information and has been very critical of America's support and involvement in Ukraine. On the flip side the United States is less than thrilled that Russia is attempting to coerce Ukraine towards their goals.
