There have been current arrests of 20 individuals who are believed to be a part of the recent murders of 29 dead Muslims in what can be deemed guerrilla warfare. Many officials believe that these attacks are due to military personal escalating operations against the Democratic Front of Bodoland while others believe that these attacks are due to Bodoland civilians, especilly Muslims, who are voting for the non-bodoland representative in the electoral race.
On the other end, Mohilary, one of the leaders of the Bodo insurgency, denied the attacks to be related to political ambitions, but regardless the military refuses to lay down their arms in the conflict only if exchange for the infected autonomous states occurs.
It is disturbing that such conflict can result from a political election, but equally disturbing that individuals take there politics so seriously in locations such as Myanmar while in the U.S. citizens take it for granted. In the perspective of the political representative, it must be haunting to maintain a specific standing in a political debate knowing that doing so threatens lives. Dropping out will give the guerrilla offenders satisfaction, but would that mean that those who died for their political beliefs were in vain?
