Egypt's Sinai Peninsula

The Sinai Peninsula in Egypt was hit by two bomb attacks on the same day. The militant group formerly know as Ansar Beit al-Maqdis (they pledged their allegiance to the Islamic State), claimed responsibility for the attack. In the city of El-Arish, a suicide bomber drove a pick-up truck into a police building, and the security forces fired on the vehicle causing it to explode. Earlier in the day, a roadside bomb was detonated in the town of Sheikh Zuweid. The group claims to be taking revenge for the police crackdown on Morsi supporters, the former Islamic ruler of Egypt. At least 14 people were killed this day.
