Obama and Castro Herald New Era at American Summit

This weekend, in Panama City, steps are being taken to start international relations between the United States of America and Cuba. Back in early December, talks about resuming international relations and ending at decades long economic blockade began. Now the 2015 Summit of the America's, 30 some of the regional leaders are experiencing an event that is being deemed, historic. Back in the days of the Cold War the international community would have seen these talks to be impossible. This is the first time, since the Cold War, that the leaders of these two countries have been able to converse.

The goal of this years summit was not to repair the ties of the two countries, however unscheduled talks have made between the two leaders. Though the two countries have a long way to go, these are the first steps.  So far these talk to being viewed in a positive light.

Now the question that needs to be asked is this; if these two countries are able to reopen dialogue, could this be a model for others who historically have comparable relations?
