The recent massacre of students at Garissa University in Kenya by the terrorist organization, al-Shabab, has led Kenya to threaten the closure of a refugee camp in Dadaab. Kenyans feared that militants who carried out the killings a couple weeks ago, hid in the camp. Currently, nearly 350,000 Somali Refugees live in Dadaab. Some of these refugees have lived in the camp for nearly 20 years. The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has made known that these refugees cannot safely return to Somalia and relocating would cause a "extreme humanitarian consequences." The UNHCR has promised they would aid Kenya with law enforcement in Dadaab to prevent any future terrorist attacks, particularly by al-Shabab. By Hannah Higgins
