Large numbers of migrants from Africa and the Middle East have left their countries in search of refuge in Italy. However, many have died on their way to Italy. Since Friday, nearly 8,480 migrants have been rescued by the Italian Coast Guard in the Mediterranean due to poorly made, overcrowded boats. In fact, nearly 400 migrants are feared dead after a boat capsized near the Libyan coast. Not including the recent catastrophe, since the beginning of the year nearly 500 people have died on their way to Italy. This problem is not only an Italian problem, rather an international issue.
