One of the natural wonders of the world is in danger of becoming extinct. The Great Barrier Reef, just off of the coast of Australia has been severely affected recently due to severe bleaching events. Last year, a report was done that showed that 67% of the coral in a previously pristine part of the reef was killed due to warmer water. The bleaching from warm water kills the coral but there is a chance for the coral to recover, usually. The bleaching events have been occurring so severely and so rapidly that the coral is not given any time to recover and ends up dying completely. The reef is in warmer waters because of global warming. It is up to the entire planet to become more eco-friendly. If not, we may soon see an entire collapse of the Great Barrier Reef during out lifetimes.
