Putin is accusing the West of double standard over Syria. He says that the Western government supporting the Syrian opposition is for their own agenda, not really to help. He also state sin the article that we shouldn't divide terrorists up into categories like moderate and not moderate.
This all came from a meeting to discuss the crisis in Syria. Assad had a surprise visit to Moscow this week and there was opportunity to talk about Russia's military role in Syria and how this is supposed to help end the conflict.
Putin had launched airstikes in Syria in support of Assad which put Russia into the conflict. They ay they hit about 500 terrorist targets but in reality they killed 370 people, including 127 civilians, according to The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. But despite all this the airstrikes are not letting up. Russia helping Assad could mean unblocking a long standing peace process.
What's happening in Syria is tricky; one one hand Putin is doing something to help his own agenda. We would be hypocrites and liars if we said that we have never done this. Putin working with Assad will make a frightening team and I believe that it could be a disaster for the Western governments. I think Putin is smart and unfortunately he is not on our side which is a problem for us. This situation is just going to keep escalating.
