Whistleblowers in Peril as Government Policies Shaft Press Freedoms

No day is ever a good day to be an advocate of freedom in the face of government control of civil liberties, but, similar to every other day, it continues to get worse. Ever since Edward Snowden's whistle went platinum on its international record deal when exposing the United States government, the parts of the UN who try to do the right thing have been evaluating the worlds protection for journalists and whistleblowers. Unsurprisingly, the worlds governments from the big boys like America, China and Russia, to the up and coming despots in Africa, have very little interest in protecting the thorns in their sides. What surprises me the most is that people around the world are not interested in keeping whistleblowers at big spy agencies safe, when the one of the biggest games in town, America, have been proven to spy on their allies most secretest secrets ever spoken.

The article goes on to talk about a fascinating cauldron of interests aligning. All the witches from big and small countries to the big transnational witches in the UN are all involved in shady business, so keeping whistle blowing frogs safe is not in anyone's interest. It refers to an incident where a UN official leaked French troops sexually abusing people in the Central African Republic, which was reported poorly at the time because UN troops had been accused of other, similar, charges elsewhere. The pot calling the kettle black is ordinarily used when referring to hypocrisy, but now the pot isn't calling the kettle black because the pot wants to keep its color hidden from everyone with eyes.

We see you governments, sometimes you do good things, most times you do morally questionable things. Maybe if you spent the resources that go to silencing whistleblowers on competent staff you wouldn't need to keep anyone quiet.
