Iran General Killed

A high ranking General in the Iranian Army was killed on Friday in Syria. There is a lot of mystery surronding this story, as of this point in time there are two potential groups that the blame can be pinned on but it unclear. A human rights group claims that General Hamedani was killed by the Islamic State while locals are suggesting it was a militant group other than the Islamic State. Regardless of who is responsible, the general is dead now. Iran was been a huge supporter of the Assad regime, giving him all sorts of aid; from funds, to arms, to men. It is unknown how much exactly they have spent to support the regime at this point, but there is a group of reporters in Syria that are trying to determine how many Iranians have died in the conflict. Their reports should give some of indication of the actual amount involved in the conflict.

From my limited understanding of the conflict, a majority of this involved are of the Shiite sect of Islam fighting with Syrian forces.
