Ben Brumfield's article on cnn.com “ German Pro-Refugee Candidate Stabbed, Wins Election.” The article is about Henriete Reker who won the mayoral election in the western city Cologne, Germany. Reker actively favors accepting Syrian refugees in Germany. For this reason, a man stabbed Reker on Saturday, October 17. Although a vast number of German citizens are in favor of helping and welcoming Syria’s immigrants, there is a group of radicals who are against Syrian immigrating to Germany. Nevertheless, this incident did not prevent the Reker’s success. While Reker was recovering from the attack, German voters supported her campaign and elected Reker mayor. Xenophobia crimes are completely unacceptable as the world need leaders such as Reker who embrace human equality.
