Snowden under protection of EU

The former NSA employee may finally be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. EU parliament has voted this Thursday to protect Edward Snowden from extradition. For people who do not know, Snowden decided to share classified information about massive intrusive surveillance of the American public by the NSA. He is being charged with violation of the Espionage Act, theft of government property (documents that he has in his possession, some of which have been released already), unauthorized communication of national defense information, and willful communications of classified communications intelligence information to an unauthorized person. The US Department of Defense believes that Snowden has put America in danger and he needs to come back to face the consequences of those actions. The first time many people heard of Edward Snowden was when he was revealed as the author of numerous encrypted emails in the intriguing, yet paranoia-inducing documentary Citizenfour. EU parliament calls Snowden a "whistleblower and international human rights defender". In August of 2013, Russia granted Snowden temporary asylum after his month-long stay in the Moscow airport. In 2014 he was granted a three-year residence permit. This guy just won't give up. He did what he thought was right and he has a lot of people behind his decision.

I'm rooting for you, Snowden.
