Iran Tests Long-Range Missile, Possibly Violating Nuclear Accord

On Sunday, Iran tested a new long-rang guided ballistic missile, which violates Iran's authority to launch missiles. However, Iranian officials are claiming they did nothing wrong since the agreement stated Iran can not develop missiles designed to carry nuclear weapons. When questioned about the missiles, Iran's defense minister stated, "We don’t seek permission from anyone to strengthen our defense and missile capabilities." One of the reasons Iran decided to test their missiles is the heavy investment in that sector. Iran has had a past of failure due to the economic state of the country and other restrictions placed on them. Testing these missiles could be the only credible way for this country to defend itself if conflict was to occur.
