China Corruption

Ji Jianye, The former mayor of Nanjing, was sentenced to 15 years in jail for corruption. The former mayor was found guilty in accepting 11.3 million yuan ($ 1.9 million) in bribes over a 14 year period.  These bribes were between taken between 1999 and 2013. The bribes were in exchange for companies to receive contracts. Ji Jianye committed to his crime and admitted his guilt. President Xi Jinping is becoming stricter on corruption and the taking of bribes. President Xi Jinping’s put his strict corruption views into place when he entered office in November 2012. Corruption occurs around the world.
