This article was about the recent French election and the newly elected French President Macron. I find it interesting how the French said no to the far right in contrast to their allies in Britain and America. This article talks about how important this impacted the world and how it is important that this was not a close race by any means. Macron defeated La Pen by 30% points and confirmed that the French wanted nothing to do with the recent populist movement taking place in the world and the emergence of extremist candidates. This piece mentions how leaders around Europe felt this was a victory not just for France but for a united Europe because Macron is pro EU, pro immigration, and for free trade. I think this is a great example of how globalized how world is becoming, how a single election for one state has the world engaged because they know it can affect their future as well.
