California Illegal Immigrants Will Receive State Aid for College

California Governor Jerry Brown, a democrat, has signed a bill into legislation called the California Dream Act. The law will allow illegal immigrants to receive state aid to attend college. The students would qualify to receive grants under the new legislation. However, critics are arguing that by allowing this legislation to pass, it goes against the fact that these students would not have proper documentation to be in the United States. Almost 2,500 will be able to qualify for the state-funded grants. Brown defends his decision by saying that this law will help fuel the economy and that it will “improve the lives of all of us.” Others say that the law goes against immigration laws and that the bill should have not be signed without an overhaul of previous immigration laws.
