Mexico’s President Works to Lock In Drug War Tactics

The President of Mexico Felipe Calderon is trying to put an end to the drug cartels in Mexico. President Calderon will be using Militarized tactics to fight against the cartels. Mr. Calderon's plans of remaking the state and local police forces have been approved by the Mexican congress and he is ready to put his new tactics to the test. This strategy for Mr. Calderon is very pivotal with the upcoming election with the pressure of the Mexican people to stop the violence.

Calderon insist that the country will be more secure under his plan. Since Calderon declared war on organized crime about 40,000 have been killed. Since he has taken office in 2006 violence has gone up. President Calderon during an interview stated, “What I can say is Mexico will be safer,” he said, “and to have not acted, it would have deteriorated much more”(Archibold). The Obama administration has President Calderon's back and have been praising him for fighting against the cartels. Mr. Calderon claims he does not care at all what the recent polls claim. He just wants to secure Mexico and make it clean!
