Despite Difficult Talks, U.S. and Iraq Had Expected Some American Troops to Stay

President Obama announced Friday that all the American troops would leave Iraq by the end of the year. Its time to rejoice and be happy all the American troops are coming home. Not so fast as many top American military officials "dismayed by the announcement, seeing it as the president best face on breakdown in tortured negotiations with the Itraqis" (Arango).

The objective is that the withdrawal of the troops from Iraq would build a better relationship between the two countries and restart the negotiation process, hopefully more productive negotiations.

American officials said they wanted to have as many as tens of thousands of American troops to remain in Iraq past 2011. The idea be hide keeping the troops is an insurance policy against violence that occurs in Iraq. The ideal goal now is to be about 3,000 to 5,000 American troops to remain in Iraq.

They settled on 3,000 to 5,ooo number of troops to stay over sea's in Iraq during negotiations between the Pentagon, the Senate Department and the White House. Intelligence suggest that Iraq will not go into chaos and it is very much stable in the case where we don't need American forces watching over them. That was very much the decision making come up with pulling out the troops in Iraq. Some of the other possibilities being discussed are the for some troops to be their until 2012. They want to keep the training going for the Iraqi troops some suggest that they will be trained in a nearby country such as Kuwait or even here in the U.S under NATO auspices.
