German President Cristian Wulff visited with Muhammad Karzai on Sunday. This surprise visit is aimed towards improving relations between Germany and Afghanistan. Karzai refered to Germany as being an “old friend” of Afghanistan. This is a good sign after the Predecessor of Wullf, Horst Koehler, suggested that German troops in Afghanistan might bring about some economic good. I believe that this visit was specifically made to help mend the comments that Koehler had made. This is could hopefully improve the relations with the United States as well in some secondary way.
