While there has been much progress for gender and sexual orientation equality in the United States, in the Russian city of Chechen there has allegedly been so such progress. According to a leading Russian newspaper, the authorities of Chechen have been retaining and killing homosexual men.
The paper reports that there have been over 100 cases of this, and that the Russian leader Razman Kadyrof denies these claims as having any merit because in his words, gay men "just do not exist" there. He goes on to say that if there was, their families would immediately turn them in.
