Russian Protests

Russian Protests

Throughout Russia, protests have erupted despite policy that bans the action of political protest itself. This challenge to the regime leaves a very troubling situation for the Russian government. Putin is now vulnerable die to challenges to his authority from not only within the state, but from pressures on the international scale (i.e. Accusation of meddling in U.S. election). However, this did not stop Russian authorities from attempting to keep order across the several cities that had protests. Many people were beaten and arrested. These anti-corruption protests hit close to home in Putin's cabinet and were very visibility. Political scientists are very interested to see how this changes the political climate within Russia ad if it will have any sounding effects on policy or even the regime itself.
