Why China is banning beards and veils in Xinjiang
This article details the recent measures put forth by the Chinese government in the providence of Xinjiang. Xinjiang is a providence in the western part of China that has a large Muslim population. Some of the restrictions put on the residents of the providence include: Advocating or propagating extremist thoughts, wearing or forcing others to wear full-face coverings, hyping up religious fanaticism through growing beards of choosing names in an abnormal way. Some residents of China believe these restrictions must be in place to help limit the amount of attacks. But to others this is seen as very discriminating to all Muslims, not just those committing attacks.
