American student Amanda Knox, currently being held in an Italian prison for the murder of her British roommate, Meredith Kercher, will find out the verdict of her trial on Monday. Knox, who maintains her innocence about Kercher’s death in 2007, is originally from Seattle, and her family has played a large role in fighting for her freedom; they, too, agree that she is innocent and should be freed from the Italian prison. Prosecutors are urging the jury to ignore what has been called a “million dollar public campaign” claiming Knox’s innocence. The Italian prosecutors fear that Knox will quickly escape back to the United States if her guilty verdict were overturned and she were to be freed on Monday, which would she would most likely be absent from a re-trial of the case. If the guilty verdict is not overturned, Knox will have one more attempt to appeal the verdict. Knox’s family has shown their support throughout the ordeal and want nothing more than to take Amanda home, but Italian prosecutors will do their best not to let that happen.
