Israel pushes for better Iran deal amid military buildup Lars Viise

Israel pushes for better Iran deal amid military buildup - ABC News (go.com)

Israel's defense minister, Benny Gantz, went to Morrocco on a 2-day visit to speak on various topic, one of the main ones being Iran. Gantz said he wants a new nuclear deal with Iran, which comes after President Biden proclaimed his desire to return to the deal after former President Donald Trump withdrew from the last Iran nuclear deal in 2018 and resumed sanctions.

Personally, I find it a bit hypocritical for Israel to be so against Iran enriching uranium considering they are the only power in the Middle East to have nuclear weapons. They have even gone so far to have their special forces group Mossad assassinate top Iranian nuclear scientists in order to sabotage the program. Like I get that geopolitically Israel wants to be the only power with that deterrent, but still, the nuclear deal isn't making that go faster. Actually, the Iran Nuclear deal not being in place just means that Iran has more of a chance to get said weapons from another illicit mean, especially now due to their close relations with Iran. I think through this plan though both sides can win Israel can get rid of another threat to them considering they are also starting to normalize relations with other Middle Eastern nations such as the UAE or Morrocco. Likewise, Iran can benefit from being able to enrich Uranium for power uses as well as the trade opportunities from the US. Hopefully a new plan is developed and thus cause the region to stabilize some more.
