Russia conducted an anti-satellite weapons test that threatened the lives of seven astronauts onboard the International Space Station. The US called out Russia and said the behavior was dangerous and irresponsible. Russia fired a missile at one of its own satellites and caused over 1,500 pieces of trackable orbital debris and hundreds of smaller pieces of debris to enter the airspace near the ISS. Astronauts had to enter "lifeboat" pods in case of a need to reenter earth suddenly as the debris cloud has put them at a risk four times greater than normal.
