Tragedy at Travis Scott's Astroworld Music Festival

Tragedy erupted on November 5th as rap star Travis Scott took the stage at his Astroworld Music Festival in Houston, Texas. A large crowd rushed the stage, leaving 8 people dead and around 300 injured. There is an investigation underway, but currently, authorities believe the incident was caused by lethal drug injections and by the violent rush that was occurring in the crowd. Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner offered condolences and say they are devastated by what took place. Leaders such as Governor Greg Abbott and the Mayor of Houston also made statements. The Houston PD and concert-goers still don't have any tangible idea as to what caused the rush that left 8 dead, all under the age of 30. This tragedy has made a local impact because amongst the victims are two Naperville college students who lived in my neighborhood and attended my high school. The passing of Jacob Jurinek, 20, and Franco Patino, 21 has our community mourning and hoping for answers. So far, one lawsuit has been filed against Travis Scott and rap star Drake (also onstage) for "inciting the crowd."
