The terrorist group al-Shabab was formed in attempt to overthrow the current government in Somalia, which continues to be the primary motivation behind their acts. In the central region of Somalia, as trucks laden with food were being transported, al-Shabab attacked and bombed the trucks, leaving at least 19 dead. Two weeks earlier, the group stormed a hotel, killing over 20 people.
The Somaliam President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, responded by explaining that the Somalian government would leave "no stone unturned" in the resistance against terrorism in the country.
