European Union to Restrict Visas for Russian Citizens
Sergio Bracco
Laurence Norman reporter from the "Wall Street Journal", wrote an article on August 31 of this year called" European Union to Restrict Visas, for Russian Citizens." In this article, the reporter talks about how the European Union is divided between wanting to impose a blanking ban on Russian tourists or continuing to allow Russian tourists into the EU. If the ban is successful, it will erase the 2007 visa facilitation agreement because it will increase the visa cost, adding more documents which will extend the process and reduce the number of new visas. However, not all the countries in the EU are on the same page because countries like Poland and the Baltic countries are eager to ban Russian tourists. Meanwhile, countries like Germany, France, Hungary, and Spain oppose the blanket ban and want to welcome those innocent Russian civilians into the EU. In the end, the EU as a united group has ended those benefits of the 2007 agreement to Russian lawmakers, diplomats, and business people.
