CHILE ADDS MORE CENTRISTS TO CABINET AFTER NEW CONSTITUTION REJECTED
Juan Forero reporter from the "Wall Street Journal", wrote an article on September 6 of this year called "Chile Adds More Centrists to Cabinet After New Constitution Rejected."In this article, the reporter talks mainly about how President Gabriel Boric is replacing left-wing politicians with more centrist politicians in his cabinet. He decided to change his cabinet after the voters rejected overwhelming the new constitution. This new constitution would have been more progressive in many ways like expanding abortion rights and giving more rights to the indigenous people. Nevertheless, some constitutional analysts have said this constitutional draft has big weaknesses like affecting the balance of powers and weakening the independence of the judicial system. In the end, the new centrist members in the cabinet are going to help President Boris not only to facilitate the negotiations with rival political parties for a new election in the assembly but also give oxygen to Mr. Boris's presidency because his approval ratings are low.
