Democrats and Republicans want Obama to do "more" regarding ISIS

This past week Obama went to Congress asking approval for a limited number of ground troops in the middle east to fight against the terrorist group ISIS. However, the proposal by Obama has been scrutinized by Democrats and Republicans saying that the plan "is not detailed and doesn't go far enough". Sen. Jack Reed, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee criticized Obama for setting a time frame for the troops that are proposed to be deployed. In Obama's plan the troops on the ground could not exceed three years of military action in the middle east. Reed thinks there should be no time limit and that creating a time limit makes us look weak in our initiative. Reed believes we don't want to tell the world that we are only in this for the short-term. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, thinks that the president should have broad authority and that Congress restricting him might be unconstitutional. McCain has also been adamant about having U.S. military presence more globally. Congress is set to debate much of these issues starting February 24th.

I like that Obama is finally starting to realize how much of a threat ISIS is and the need for their destruction. He took some good initiative with suggesting troops on the ground, but I am with more of the congressman on the stance of being more strong. There should be no restraints in time frame of troops, we need to go full force. While I respect the presidents decision for collaborating and getting the opinions of congress regarding ISIS, I would like him to be more strong and strictly come out and say, "We are going to eliminate these evil savages!" It will be interesting how the rest of these deliberations play out, but the main goal cannot be disrupted in ending the evil of ISIS.
