India isn't doing too hot

In my recent posts I have examined the current political climate of India, and how religion is becoming the common undertone of political clashes. India a subcontinent home to more than 1.3 billion people who recently elected Hindu-nationalist Narendra Modi as prime minister. Modi is under investigation by the international community for his role inside of the 2002 Gujarat riots that left more than 1,500 dead. In a country that is extremely diverse and vast, religious nationalism is creating trouble among the potentially powerful nation. Though India's 1.3 billion population is predominantly Hindu other sizable minority religions exist like, Christians, Muslims and Sikhs. After Modi's win attacks on Christian churches leave many to speculate if the government is behind these attacks. Though India was founded in complete secularism, Modi and the BJP (Modi's far-right religious political party) have waged a war on the other religions of India. Changing of school textbooks to be more Hindu-centered, mass conversions sponsored by the government, and the silencing of satirical critics of Hinduism, has dawned many to ask the question what is Modi and the BJP doing positively for India. I have stated this before, India has the potential to be a great world power, however Modi isn't fulfilling this potential. Instead he is waging a religious war on his fellow Indians.
