Pollution and Social Change

The article "China's Fog Weighs Heavily on Shoulders of Premier Architect" is an interesting commentary on both Wu Liangyong, the grand-master architect of China, and the pollution/culture/ governmental problems in China today.  Currently, the highly industrialized and highly populated country of China is experiencing smog problems reminiscent of the mid-20 century "London Fog".  Mr. Wu's plan to fix this problem has been 25 years in the making and has only recently been accepted by the president Xi Jinping; the plan incorporates mindful urban planning and will promote a more profound understanding of Chinese culture.  Mr. Wu's understanding of both eastern and western culture, as well as the implications that art has on society.  The push toward more sustainable living and positive change in the cities represents the hope of workers to become independent of their childhood bureaucracy and push for their own agendas.  - Kaytlin St.Clair
