Italian Rescues in Mediterranean

The Italian coastguard has saved more than 2,000 migrants off the Libyan coast. Last week, 200 migrants died after running into dangerous weather in the Mediterranean Sea. On Friday, 600 migrants were saved. According to Italy's transport military, a couple of men with rifles rushed out form the Libyan shore during the 600 migrant rescue and demanded the return of a boat that had been emptied of migrants. The men then jumped on to the boat and took off with it. The UNHCR(The UN High Commissioner for Refugees) stated that almost 3,500 people died, and about 200,000 people were saved trying to get into Europe in 2014 by crossing the Mediterranean Sea. A lot of rescues came from the Mare Nostrum operation in October. The way the Italians are responding to the fleeing migrants is interesting to me. The Italians seem to want to help those who are fleeing the violence in Libya and other countries close to there.
