Nigeria troops repel Boko Haram attack on city of Gombe

Nigerian troops have repelled a Boko Haram attack on the north-east of Gombe. Nigerian troops blocked roads for entry and exit of Gombe and also used air support to force Boko Haram militants to retreat. These years, Boko Haram has affected four countries- Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon. They aim to ban western education. However, in contrast, they abducted hundreds of school girls and launched lots of military attacks to create an Islamic state. I can't understand they can even behave violently towards innocent children with the slogan of banning western values. The reason why islamic societies meet with endless political and territorial unrest is so complex to me.
