ISIS Sympathizer Hacks US Central Command

On Wednesday an ISIS sympathizer group hacked the Twitter page of U.S Central Command.  They posted several threats toward military families and to Michelle Obama and her family.  This group calls themselves CyberCaliphate and is hacking the U.S Central Command in response to some of the threats another hacker group called Anonymous made to ISIS.  CyberCaliphate posted documents that showed information including addresses of military families and told the families that they are not safe.

This article is evidence that warfare is no longer commonly out in the forests or fields with soldiers shooting at each other like it was 70 years ago.  A new type of warfare that is emerging is cyber warfare.  CyberCaliphate is using hacking groups like this to show that they have the power in invade on people’s privacy.  Though this group didn’t hack something major like the white house or military defenses, this is a scare tactic and it shows what this group is capable of.  This whole thing started when the group Anonymous started threatening ISIS by hacking their twitter, Facebook, and other accounts and threatened them.  Though these hacks have not developed into any major crises, we still need to be careful about what we as individuals post online.
