History of Lynching in the South

The South has a long history of lynching African American's, as a way to terrorize the African American community. These African American individuals never did any wrong towards the Caucasian community, yet they were brutally lynched and tortured just because of the color of their skin. So, I wonder, would these Caucasian groups of people be considered terrorists?
