The Hungarian People are "Hungrey" for new governement

Budapest has been the place for change in Hungary recently as thousands of protestors are demanding the overthrow of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's government a day before a visit by German Chancellor Angela Merkel. On Sunday there was an estimated 3,000 protestors in attendance, witched was organized  by Balazs Gulyas a Hungarian neurobiologist. Gulyas has indicated the major point of the rally was to show that the majority of citizens in Hungary do not agree with Orban's government growing closer with Vladimir Putin. On Monday there will be a meeting between Hungarian officials and German leaders with the big topic of discussion being an agreement for Russia to build new reactors at Hungary's nuclear power plant. They also want a loan of $11.3 billion to help with the finances. Many Hungarians are pleading the case that the government is corrupt and it is the government who are reaping all of the benefits.

I found this to be a very interesting article. I do not know much about Hungary, but I was on board with why they were protesting. The overall situation over there does not smell right. Also, I don't like how Putin is trying to extend his nuclear agenda to other countries as well. The dilemma hear seems to be a big one. I think not only for the Hungarian people, but these negotiations the U.S. should be concerned with as well.

3,000 people is so very far from a majority of the country. Viktor Orban's party is very popular. And Hungarians (and those of other nations like Bulgaria) are VERY upset that the EU's actions against Russia have cost them the South Stream Pipeline - a Russian project which woud have been the biggest boost their economies had seen in years, canceled and replaced by a pipeline through Turkey, a country many Europeans despise.

Viktor Orban is very much out of favor with the US and the EU now, which is why pro-democracy NGOs are organizing protests like this these against him.

He and his party won Hungary's elections fairly - and they seem to be acting with Hungary's best interests in mind.
