A neighbourhood in Naples celebrates the release from prison of two mafiosi with fireworks

Camorra members Giovanni Illiano, 48, and Silvio De Luca, 41, had just completed their prison sentences of 8 and 10 years respectively, for extortion offences.
This is an example of how powerful these aspects are in the lives of Naples' citizens. The new generations of mafiosi condemn Naples to eternal terror.  For some years now, Neapolitans have been worried about another type of terror, much more inhuman.  Since a wave of violent attacks in 2017, they have been called baby gangs, organised gangs of teenagers, some of whom have not even reached the age of fourteen, who instead of going to school are engaged in drug trafficking, theft and robbery.  Like the Latin American maras, they act with indiscriminate violence.
