As we discuss climate in class, we know the importance of each country doing their part for the world. Emissions of carbon dioxide and global warming are both things that every person has to consider. The extreme flooding in Venice, fires in Australia, and an outbreak of the plague in China have all been blamed on climate change. Many researchers argue that global warming could result in future generation with illness.
On Wednesday, floods came through lagoon city, destroying historic buildings and the basilica. The “apocalyptic” floods were peaked at 6 feet 2 inches tall. They are the highest they have been since 1966 and the flooding has become more of a threat in recent years. In Australia, wild bushfires have been burning in Australia and four people have been killed. Air temperatures have been reported to have risen in the past century, which has increased the number of droughts and fires around the world. The article states that cutting down the coal-industry would be an option, but it would hurt the economy.
As the world gets warmer, there is a growing concern about how human’s health will be impacted. Health officials in China have reported that there is a rare outbreak of pneumonic plague in Beijing. The rodent populations have increased after droughts. A warmer world would increase the risks of “food shortages, infectious diseases, floods, and extreme heat”. Different policies need to be put into place before it’s too late.
