Secret Documents of Chinese Detention Camps Leaked

What the Chinese calls “voluntary job training” has been described as a “forced ideological and behavioral re-education centers run in secret” by former detainees of Chinese detention camps. Leaks of classified blueprints shows the Chinese strategies of what they are doing to the ethnic minorities they lock up. Their strategy is to lock up ethnic minorities before they commit a crime to “rewire their thoughts and the language they speak.”  

These leaked documents describe the most “high-tech mass detention in the 21st-century.” Most of these ethnic minorities are Muslims. Detainees confirm these camps are committing cultural genocide as they are forced to assimilate to the Chinese way of life. The Chinese government has been justifying these actions of religious restrictions through relating back to the 9/11, claiming that the Muslims in China are susceptible to Islamic extremist influences.  

Inside of the “education camps” detainees are only allowed to leave when absolutely necessary, but they still we be under strict surveillance. Escaping was also impossible, there are armed police at every corner at these facilities. A detainee called the detention center a “’concentration camp...much more horrifying than prison,’ with rape, brainwashing and torture in a ‘black room’ were people screamed.” Detaniees were also given medicine to help them become “obedient”.  

After the detainees leave they are forced to sign job contracts, which forces them to work long hours with little pay. If they refuse these jobs they most go back to the camps.
