Sri Lanka elects a new president since the deadly bombings in April. In April, a series of bombs destroyed churches and hotels. This incident occurred on Easter Sunday and killed 290 people. The newest president is named Gotabaya Rajapaksa and he competed against 35 candidates and won 52.2% of the vote. He was also Sri Lanka’s former defense secretary.
