The solar energy startup company, Heliogen, recently made a major breakthrough while testing new concentrated solar heating technology. Concentrated solar heating is when you use mirrors to focus sunlight at a concentrated point. By using an AI to automatically track and adjust thousands of mirrors to focus the sun's energy at a single point, they have possibly discovered a clean way of powering super-heated systems. Heliogen's breakthrough may industrial companies, such as cement and steel making, to switch to a green power source. The fossil fuels required in cement, steel, and glass making account for one-fifth of the total greenhouse gas emissions.
