Large Marches in Spain on 5th Anniversary of Occupy Protest

Today, thousands of Spanish citizens marched in downtown Madrid to mark the 5th anniversary of a protest movement that led to the creation of Podemos (We Can), now Spain's third most popular political party, and that spawned the Occupy movement that spread throughout the world. Today people were urged to occupy cities all over the world to protest austerity, corruption, high unemployment, and lack of government transparency. When this movement began 5 years ago, the protest in Madrid lasted 28 days. Podemos was created as a result of this movement because many Spanish people were not happy with the existing political parties in Spain. On Friday Podemos announced that it was joining together with the United Left party of Spain to form Unidos Podems (United We Can) to enable the party to have more success in the upcoming election.
