Positive vibes surround Obama's visit in Vietnam

Within the upcoming days, Obama will be the the second American president to visit Vietnam since the end of the Vietnam War. Clinton visited during his presidential period, but unlike that visit Obama's visit seems to put a greater stake on play. The main difference with this visit compared to Clinton's is China. When Clinton was president, strong ties still remained between China and Vietnam. Now, however, China poses a threat to many of their small South Asian neighbors , including Vietnam. This situation is the premise for Obama's main goal to accomplish while in Vietnam: to sign a trade deal with the country that will be a step towards US's partnership with the South Asian countries to balance up against China.
