Russia Defends Selling Arms to Both Azerbaijan and Armenia

The territory Nagorno-Karabakh, while officially part of Azerbaijan, has been under Armenian military control since 1994. Recently, tempers have flared between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the territory is becoming increasingly violent. Soldiers from Azerbaijan, soldiers from Armenia, and civilians have all been killed.Russia has mediated a truce between the two sides, but it has been repeatedly violated by both sides. Russia, France, and the United States are mediating peace talks between the sides. However, Russia is also taking advantage of the violence by selling weapons to each side. While seemingly supporting peace between the two sides, Russia is simultaneously benefiting from the violence.http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2016/04/09/world/europe/ap-eu-azerbaijan-armenia.html?_r=0--Melissa Widel
